Book Launch - Invitation Letter

Dear Readers,
Riad Kamel Kabaha’s special book, The Wadi has Two Banks: My Life Story, is about to be released as part of the Kav Adom series.

The book unfolds the author’s life story in first-person; Riad Kamel Kabaha is a seasoned activist for promoting a joint society of Jews and Arabs in Israel. Beforehand, he served as head of the Basma Local Council, which includes Riad’s village, Bartaa. Today, Riad Kabaha is director of the Jewish-Arab Center for Peace, in Givat Haviva.

Kabaha’s personal story is interlaced with the unique story of his village: half of its territory is in the State of Israel, and the other half is in the Palestinian Authority. This symbolic reality reflects Kabaha’s life, as well as the lives of the Palestinian-Arab citizens of Israel who traverse “the border or seam-line.” Their lives are caught between identities and aspirations that are conflicting and also complementary, in a reality of discrimination and ongoing struggle for recognition and civil equality. The story of Kabaha’s life is, to a great extent, the story of the State of Israel and its complex relations with its Arab-Palestinian citizens.

We will discuss these issues at a book-launch party that will take place in Tzavta Tel Aviv on Friday November 11 2016, from 10:00 to 13:00. The event will be attended by political figures, intellectuals and key activists.

The event will take place in Hebrew with simultaneous translation to English.
We look forward to seeing you. Please save the date and mark your calendar.
Sincerely,
